Sergeant Major Robert Cherry is originally from Bridgman, Michigan and is a member of The U.S. Army Field Band Brass Quintet. He has served as Principal Horn of the Southwest Michigan Symphony, the Elkhart Symphony, and the South Bend Symphony, and was a Contributing Artist at the 2001 International Horn Society Symposium. He has also held contracted positions with numerous orchestras in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. As a Bloomington Camerata Scholar, SGM Cherry earned a Performer’s Certificate from Indiana University. He also earned a Bachelor of Music degree at Western Michigan University, where he was both a Medallion and Presidential Scholar. His teachers include Johnny Pherigo, Paul Austin, and Michael Hatfield.
